Reflection: Surround Yourself with Positive People and Positive Thoughts at all Times.

Today’s reflection is all about who is in your world and what impact they are having on you – directly or indirectly.  You have within your sphere of influence any number of people that are putting in your head, thoughts that can either deter you from, or encourage you towards all that you dream, desire and deserve.

I purposefully surround myself with positive people.  I do this because I know that my friends, colleagues and family members affect my thoughts.  My thoughts direct my actions. My actions determine the outcome of my life, so in the end; who I choose to allow into my life can impact the outcome of it – directly or indirectly.

I am realistic in the thought of how much control I have over who I will come in contact with on a random basis.  Realizing that I am bound to rub elbows with some negative people in the world during the course of my job, hobbies or within my community (both offline and on). However, I do have complete control when the time comes to choose people as partners, employees or friends.  I make a point of choosing people who lift me up and encourage me to see the opportunities, the availabilities and the possibilities in life.

Let us be honest shall we?  We all have had and will have challenges in life. Some of us will have far more than others, either in quantity or quality.  But at the end of the day, not one of us is immune to having the proverbial log fall across our path. Some people will stand around clucking at the log, and there are many others who will be quite willing to stand there and offer you the warmth of their sympathy.

But is that what you want or even need… warm chicken?

I say no.  The people that I call my friends are the ones who go for the chainsaw and remind me to clear the road.  The true friends even help me clear the road. My best friends are those who go a step further and use that wood to build a bridge or a house.

They see the opportunity in every challenge and find a way to draw that out of both themselves and me as well!

Because you are much more than a victim of circumstances, you should surround yourself with people who feel the same way and help you make the most of whatever life sends your way.

Ask yourself these Self-Reflection Questions:

1. How much careful thought do I put into choosing whom I spend time with?
2. Who in my life is dragging me down?
3. Who in my life is building me up?
4. Does my attitude help build others up?
