Focus on the Log (Goal)

Posted by: | Comments (2)

So many of can use some help with our focus.  Our life’s and our minds are so busy with numerous little distractions that we lose our focus on the main objective or goal.   Also, society and technology is not helping us keep our focus – I mean have you seen the commercial for the satellite cable service that will enable you to watch six to nine games at the SAME TIME.  WOW, talk about spreading your focus around.  Our world is becoming much like that television service – spreading your focus so thin that some of the ‘facts’ are evading your attention.  Problem is, some of these facts can and often will make or break your success or at least how fast you can attain it.  So as you can see, focus is an important ingredient to your recipe for success.

When I was in basic training for the US Army we frequently had to run the obstacle course or as we called it the “O” course.   This was a trail running through the beautiful woods of South Carolina populated with various crawling, climbing, jumping and dodging obstacles.  Your task was to run the “O” course in a set time frame or less.  One of the obstacles was a ‘log walk.’  Simply put there would be telephone pole sized log lying on the ground and you would need to walk across the top.  Simple right?  Yes!  But here is what I found interesting.  As long as the log was on the ground or at least low to the ground – the runners focus was on the log and they traversed it easily.  However, once you raised the log up 5 or more feet into the air – their focus went from walking across the log to the risk of falling.  Guess what?  Yep, you guessed allegra order prescription it – many of them fell, because they took their focus off the main goal (walking across the log) and instead focused on the risk (falling).

The point I want to make sure you walk away with today is Focus is very important!  Most of us have a tendency to lose our focus in life, business or relationships because we take our eye of the main goal and focus on the all the negatives possibilities.   Basically we stop focusing on our goal’s log and instead focus on the worries and fears of the fall.

When you focus on what you want and how you can attain it, it will start to come into your life!  When you stay focused on what you want as it starts to come into your life, it will starting coming faster.  When you focus on being a happy and motivated person, guess what?   Yep, that’s right – you will become a happier and more motivated person!

Do you find yourself busting your buns striving hard for every step forward and in the end you still feel like you aren’t getting anywhere?  Well you are not alone!   You, like so many others, have barriers to your personal growth and development, some you are probably not even aware of.  I have found that countless people have barriers to personal growth and development, some small and easily over come, some larger, needing more thought, action and planning.  All of these barriers are keeping them, and probably you, from achieving your personal or career goals in life.  But, know this, regardless of the barriers to your personal growth and development, you CAN hurdle these obstacles and cross the finish line to your goals.  How?  Well here are a few living and thinking adjustments that will get you started:

  • Imagination / Vision
One of the more common barriers to personal growth and development is your ability (or lack of) to imagine and/or create a vision of your desired goal, dream or destination.  You need to know, I mean really know, that what you can accomplish is limited or enhanced by your determination and ability to imagine and envision your desired future.  Like Mr. Ford said, if you think you can or think you cannot… you are right!
  • Yesterday’s Stumbles
Running a close second in barriers to personal growth and development is yesterday’s stumbles or you might call them past failures.  Do not spend your time dwelling in the past.  Do not forget it entirely, but buy cheap acomplia online rather then wallow in regret, rebound in education.  Every stumble large or small can teach you something, learn the lesson and your personal growth and development will quickly feel the benefits.
  • Support Systems
This barrier to personal growth and development gets missed a lot by many.  So many get use to negative message from parent, friends, family and associates.  Often you can go so use to it that you subconsciously begin to believe the “I can’t” message.  You need get rid of, or at least off set, these negatives with a positive like minded support system.  Find others striving to grow themselves, find groups and meet with them, find blogs and websites (like http://YourSuccessAtLast.com) where you can feed you mind with positive messages.  Having this crew spurring you one will do wonders for your personal growth and development.
  • Planning
You had to know I was to link personal growth and development to planning and goal setting.  Anyone’s lack of planning and goal setting is going to have a negative effect on their personal development and growth.  There are a number of posts here that give some great tips and techniques to help you hone your goal setting skills so I will not try and labor my point.  But, know that setting goals, figuring out how to reach them and defining a timeline for their accomplishment is critical to your personal growth and development.

Remember, no matter what your barriers to your own personal growth and development are – you can overcome them.  Use your imagination to create the vision of your desired future.  Set your goals, define how you will reach them and by when.  Use yesterday’s stumbles as learning opportunities and surround yourself with like minded positively motivated people.  Take these few simple actions and I am willing to bet that your personal growth and development will far exceed your wildest dreams.

Possibilities or Availabilities?

Posted by: | Comments (2)

You have heard of ‘opportunities’ and ‘possibilities.’  But have you heard of ‘availabilities?’ If ‘possibilities’ describe that which could be, then ‘availabilities’ describe that which already is.

An old story tells of a tourist who paused for a rest in a small town in the mountains. He went over to an old man sitting on a bench in front of the general store and asked, “Friend, can you tell me something this town is noted for?”

“Well,” the old timer answered. “I don’t rightly know ‘cept that it’s the starting point to the world.”

“Excuse me?” said the newcomer.

“Yep,” the old man continued. “You can start here and go anywhere you want!”

I have found that far too many people do not believe in ’possibilities’.  They are so focused on the ‘availabilities’ that they feel completely caged in (or by) their life.  Believing that they CANT go anywhere.  Their focus on the ‘availabilities’ only allows them to consider what is
immediately available.  As we all know, what is immediately available is generally very limited.  So, this focus leads to a discouraged abandon of their choices, leaving them caged.

However, there are those of us who are of the mindset that we can go anywhere from where we are.  Our dreams, goals and lives are pushed by our imaginations – and buy cheap Noroxin online this imagination is our only limitation.  Thus, making our options seemingly limitless.   We take what is available and use it to our advantage.  We go to or create what is not available in our vigorous pursuit of what we believe is possible.

Perhaps you are feeling caged, or in a rut (remember a rut nothing more than a grave with the ends kicked out).  If you are feeling caged by your situation, job, or your life as a whole, then I would ask…

“Are you choosing availabilities over possibilities?”

*From time to time I will be putting reflection material in this blog – reflection material is not just something to be read but something to be thought about.  Read the reflection and actually think about what it means to and for you.  Does it bring to the surface issues that you need to resolve?  Achievements that fill you with pride or perhaps just some idea of how you can be just a little bit better?  All these can have a positive impact on you if you reflect on them.  So here is the first – as always I welcome your input (and I’m not just saying that either)

Giving myself personal time is a terrific gift. I have learned that personal time allows me to be more productive.

Having the time to focus on the things I want to accomplish is important. Personal time allows me to address the tasks I have set for myself. In order to actively pursue my life purpose, I need to devote time to my goals.

Because I am a giving person, it is sometimes hard for me to see that I deserve the same amount of respect that I show to others. When it is right, I find ways to put myself first.

Since I give myself the time and space to accomplish my goals, I am a better person. I feel like I am listening to and honoring my true desires.

Time for myself enables me to be the best I can be. It is a great practice to devote time to my thoughts and goals. Personal time allows me to maximize my productivity.

My book of life is designed to help me become a complete person. I make time for others and myself. When I give myself personal time, I use that time fully.

Because personal time equals productive time, I am able to achieve my goals and devote more time to my family and friends.

When I am available to others, I am alive with energy. My time alone has refreshed my life view and filled me with renewed passion. In my book of life, personal time is priceless.

Self-Reflection Questions:

1. Do I give myself the gift of personal time?

2. What do I hope to accomplish during my personal time?

3. How can I maximize the productivity of my personal time?
